Hamburger Rotterdam

From the very first bite, the edges of the beef immediately stand out. They’re exceptionally crispy and well-seasoned, delivering a lot of flavor and a satisfying bite. On the inside, the meat remains nicely tender, creating that ideal balance between crispy and juicy.

The bun holds up well too. It’s soft and light, but nicely toasted on the inside, adding an extra layer of crunch. This gives the burger a bit more structure and makes each bite more interesting.

Flavor-wise, things stay classic with a combination of ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. It works well, but the distribution of the sauce isn’t quite balanced. Most of it sits in the center of the burger, making that part rich and flavorful, while the outer edges feel slightly dry and, aside from the nicely salted crispy beef, a bit lacking in flavor.

The cheese is used sparingly and doesn’t fully blend with the meat. Like the sauce, it’s mainly concentrated in the middle, so you miss that consistent, drippy combination throughout the entire burger something you’d ideally expect from a classic smashburger.

The pickles, on the other hand, are spot on: fresh, crisp, and with just the right amount of acidity to balance the whole.

Presentation is clean and well done. The burgers are neatly wrapped in nice paper and served with care.

The sides are decent, but not particularly memorable. The fries themselves are good, but the special sauce doesn’t really stand out. Its flavor is somewhat reminiscent of a curry or a “frikandel speciaal”-style sauce. The sides are fine, but you wouldn’t necessarily miss them if you skipped them.

All in all, Drippy delivers a technically solid smashburger with great crispy edges and a strong foundation. However, a better distribution of sauce and cheese could easily elevate this burger to the next level.
